On September 27, 2024, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan officially kicked off in Taipei!
The 11-day festival features 114 events (including satellites), with 108 events awarding the iconic Lion Trophies.
The total guaranteed prize pool reaches an impressive NT$150 million (approximately USD 4.6 million), creating an electric atmosphere filled with excitement and anticipation.
During the opening day, the event drew massive crowds — registration lines extended all the way to the stairways and sidewalks.
A total of 1,680 players signed up, setting the stage for a spectacular series filled with thrilling competition and remarkable prizes.
In addition to the APT Main Event, several side events also took place on opening day, including the High Roller and Ladies Event.
By the end of Day 1, 235 players had successfully advanced to the final stage of the Opening Event, and five champions were crowned.
Other Winners
On APT Taipei’s opening day, four additional players also claimed championship trophies.
Notably, the Ladies Event recorded the largest field among side events, attracting 129 participants, marking a remarkable increase in female player participation — possibly the first of its kind in Asia.
Japan’s Sachiko Uchihara captured her first-ever title, earning NT$198,144 (approximately USD 6,245), adding a fitting conclusion to the day’s excitement.
Hong Kong’s Park Yu Cheung (also known as Sparrow Cheung) once again demonstrated his prowess, winning the APT Limit Triple Draw 2-7 event and taking home NT$118,038 (approximately USD 3,720), besting a 69-player field.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Yusuke Abe performed impressively in the PLO event, earning NT$176,624, finishing 71st overall.
Australia’s Mark Furniss, who previously achieved outstanding results at past APT Taipei festivals with multiple mixed-game titles, once again showcased his skills on opening day by conquering the 5-Card PLO (Big O) event.
He outlasted a field of 70 players to win the top prize of NT$119,952.

同時，澳洲選手馬克·弗尼斯（Mark Furniss）在之前的APT台北系列賽中曾取得驚人佳績，贏得多個混合賽事的冠軍。他在開幕當天再次展現實力，成功在5張牌PLO（Big O）比賽中擊敗70名選手，獲得最高獎金119,952新台幣。
APT Taipei 2024 Schedule
The APT 2024 Taiwan series runs from September 27 to October 7, 2024, held across two major venues in Taipei:
the Asia Poker Arena — Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club (CTP), the largest and most historic poker room in the region,
and the Chinese Mahjong League (CML).
This marks the ninth time APT has hosted a major festival in Taiwan.
This year’s edition has already set new benchmarks, becoming the largest and richest poker series in Taiwan’s history,
with a total prize pool surpassing USD 11.97 million.
Among the headline events, the NT$50,000 (~USD 1,570) APT Main Event boasts a NT$65 million guarantee,
while two elite tournaments — the NT$300,000 (~USD 9,410) Super High Roller and the NT$110,000 (~USD 3,450) High Roller — each feature eight-figure NT$ guarantees (six-figure USD prizes).
With these massive guarantees and record-breaking attendance figures, new milestones are clearly on the horizon.
And judging by the enormous turnout at the opening event, it’s safe to say that APT Taipei 2024 is already an unmissable highlight on the Asian poker calendar.
