The APT 2024 Main Event has officially kicked off at Corona Resort & Casino in Phu Quoc, with Flight A concluding successfully. The opening flight drew 189 entries, and Deepankur Gupta from India emerged as the chip leader, finishing the day with the highest stack among all competitors.
The Main Event features a massive guaranteed prize pool of VND 25 billion (approximately USD 989,355) and includes three additional flights. Flight B is currently underway, with blind levels of 45/60 minutes.
As part of the festival’s celebrations, Day 3 also saw two new champions crowned in the side events — Le Thanh Tung from Vietnam and Nelson Dong from Australia, both capturing their first-ever APT titles.
APT Main Event Flight A Recap
As the event progressed, the number of entries continued to rise after the tenth level of the day, eventually reaching 189 total entries (142 unique players). After a competitive Day 1, only 70 players advanced to the next stage. Deepankur Gupta from India topped the leaderboard with 307,800 chips, becoming the only player to surpass the 300K mark. In second place was Dong Van Tan, who bagged 290,500 chips.
Local players Nguyen Trung Quan, Bui Le Anh, and Le Buu Nghia also made strong showings, all finishing in the top five with stacks well above the 40,000 starting chips. All surviving players will return for Day 2 on Thursday, November 14.
